This guest house is an undiscovered gem with luxurious comforts and Johan as a warm, witty and engaging host. Johan has lovingly created the most spectacular gardens and is happy to give you some tips & tricks. A few of the rooms and cottages look onto this abundantly green and magnificent display of textures and colour. 81 on Church offers a choice of four comfortable, spacious bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bedroom, evaporative air cooling and DSTV. Three have a queen-sized and a single bed, and there is a family room with a queen-sized and 2 single beds. Like most houses of its vintage, the rooms are large having high ceilings and sash windows welcoming the light to stream in. All rooms have DSTV, a fridge-freezer for cold drinks on summer days, and everything you need to make tea or coffee. The bathrooms-en-suite have showers. We also have two 2 sleeper luxury cottages each having a queen-sized bed (can convert into twin beds), an en-suite bathroom as well as their own private outside shower. The lounge area with a kitchenette overlooks the gardens outside. These units are perfect for guests looking for luxurious comfort and to simply unwind.
Area Info
Prince Albert is a peaceful village in the Karoo. The mountains which shelter the village provide spring water which has created this little oasis. The climate is superb, with sunshine nearly every day and spectacular night skies. The village has beautifully preserved Cape Dutch, Karoo and Victorian buildings and an Art Deco building now houses the Showroom Theatre. The streets are wide and there is little traffic.
There are a number of coffee shops and restaurants where you can enjoy local cuisine. Prince Albert is known for its sun-ripened fresh and dried fruit, especially figs and apricots. In the Prince Albert Valley, to the south of the village, farmers have restored vineyards last farmed in the 19th century. Karoo lamb, olives, olive oil and cheese are local delicacies.
