Sedgefield is home to 5 beautiful beaches which are never crowded- not even in the high tourist season! The beaches all run into each other and stretch for more than 6 kilometers. Very unique to these beaches are the weathered sandstone cliffs which are in effect fossilized dunes. These amazing creations are also the largest of their kind in the Southern Hemisphere. When the river mouth is open the Swartvlei lagoon runs into the Indian Ocean between Swartvlei Beach and Myoli Beach. The mixture of saline and fresh water at this mouth creates the perfect mix for an awesome snorkeling experience in the fresh blue/turquoise water.
