Blesfontein Guest farm
On top of the escarpment of the Roggeveld mountains, Blesfontein Guest Farm is situated 28 km southwest of Sutherland in the quiet and remote Tankwa Karoo of South Africa's Northern Cape. Blesfontein Guest Farm offers accommodation in units that can accommodate between 2 to 5 people. The old buildings on the farm and most of the stone-built stables were converted into unique and rustic accommodation with the necessary facilities and amenities for self-catering. Breakfast and/or meals can be arranged on request at an additional cost. Guests have a choice of open-plan, 1 or 2-bedroomed units that are furnished with a combination of double beds, single beds, bunk beds or sleeper couches and have private bathrooms with showers or baths. Some of the units have a private kitchen with an electric or gas stove, a living area and a built-in braai or cosy fireplace. A cleaning service is available on request at an additional cost. For a large group or family, the North and South Farmhouse can be booked by opening the doors between the 2 units to create one big house. Blesfontein Guest Farm also offers a large communal area with beautiful views across the farm. Guests are welcome to use the dartboard, table tennis, relax on comfortable couches while reading from the small library and enjoy the free Wi-Fi. During the day, guests can enjoy the freedom the farm has to offer. Guests can bring their own 4x4 or hire a farm vehicle to take a scenic drive to the viewpoint at the escarpment where springbuck, blesbuck, grey reedbuck, zebra, steenbok and black wildebeest can be seen as well as tortoises, a meerkat family and several bird species. Our night skies are clear and exceptional - guests can enjoy our amateur observatory and stargazing with our local astronomer guide and 2 telescopes. Blesfontein Guest Farm has a small farm shop for basics such as milk and eggs, local wine, home-grown Alpaca wool and Alpaca dolls as well as home-made jams and preserves in season. Firewood is not included in room rates, but can be purchased at the farm shop. There is MTN signal at the farmhouse, on high areas of the farm and on parts of the road between Sutherland and Blesfontein. Vodacom and Cell-C are only available in Sutherland. There is free Wi-Fi at the hotspot on the farm in the communal room. Please note, Blesfontein Guest Farm is a working farm with lots of farm animals and resident wildlife and guests are welcome to interact with them. Please note, Blesfontein Guest Farm is not pet-friendly.
Area Info
Blesfontein Guest Farm is situated on the edge of the Plateau of the Roggeveld Mountains, overlooking the lovely Tankwa and Tankwa Karoo National Park area with views up to the Cedarberg. The area is cold in winter with moderate weather in summer.

Old Farmhouse South

Sleeps up to 3 adults. South Farmhouse has a double and a single bed with a bath-only bathroom. The living area has a built-in braai and the kitchen has a 2-plate stove and fridge. The unit can be booked with Farmhouse North for a group or family.
The Honeymoon Cow Shed

Sleeps max 4 adults. The open-plan stone building has a double bed and 2 single beds with a round bath and overhead shower in the bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with a 2-plate stove, dining area and has a cosy fireplace. The unit opens onto the stoep.
The Milk Stable

Sleeps 4. The open-plan stone unit contains a double bed and bunk bed with a shower-only bathroom. Previously the milking stable, the unit has a wood-fired stove in the corner, dining area and tea and coffee facilities. The unit opens onto a small patio.
The Calves Stable

Previously the calf stable, the unit is now comfortably furnished for 3 adults with a double bed, a single bed and a bathroom with a shower. The kitchen is equipped with a 2-plate stove and indoor braai area. The unit opens onto an open patio.
The Hay Stable

Ideal for 4, the former hammer mill offers one room with a double and a single bed and shower-only bathroom. The living area has a single bed and a kitchenette with a 2-plate stove and oven. The unit has an indoor fireplace and lovely Karoo views.
Second Honeymoon Suite

Complementing the surrounding stonework, the open-plan unit sleeps up to 3 with a double bed and an extra single bed. The bathroom has a big oval bath and separate toilet. The kitchenette has a 2-plate stove and oven, dining area and indoor braai area.
