Bo Kamer Guesthouse / Livingwaters Self Catering

Area Info
Attractions in Ermelo include several nearby dams that provide excellent fishing and other forms of watersport, and San paintings located on the Welgelegen farm. Of special interest in the area are the Legoya Stone Huts on top of the Tafelkop Mountains, which date from the 14th Century.
Chrissiesmeer:
The area around Chrissiesmeer (30 minutes from Ermelo) offers spectacular birding along its 270 lakes & pans. All birding is done from the roadside and at the picnic spot. The area is also one of the best habitats for frog spotting.
Stone Age Archaeological Sites:
Visit some of the hidden mysteries of Africa - the mysterious stone circles of the Komati. Are they the temples of a lost civilization? Is there an Indo-African link, dating back thousands of years?
The Legoya Huts:
The Legoya huts consist of 90 corbel stone huts which cover an area of four hectares, and is located on a mesa, surrounded by picturesque forests, streams and a waterfall. Dating back to around 1400 AD, this settlement is the largest of its kind and was declared a National Monument in 1986.
Goliath's Giant Footprint:
A truly unique and uplifting experience at the sight of this perfectly formed 2 metre long footprint imprinted in solid granite rock. Did giants once inhabit the Ermelo grassveldt?
San Rock Art:
The vast number of paintings to be found throughout the area is astounding. If these rock art paintings could talk, they would reveal a time of a forgotten people who painted their history on cave walls and left a legacy of myths, mythology and legends.
Anglo Boer War Graves & Battle Sites:
The annals of history are full of the bloody deeds & battles of the Anglo Boer War. Two key battles were fought in the Ermelo area. Visit the Battle of Chrissiesmeer and Onverwacht, as well as war graves.
