Boabab Tent Camp - Hoedspruit

Baobab Tent Camp is situated on a private working farm near Hoedspruit, and offers quality tented camp accommodation. The farm is also the home of the second-largest Baobab tree in South Africa. The camp is the ideal base from which to visit the array of nature and game reserves in the area. Each tent is furnished with twin beds that can be converted into a king-size bed fitted with quality linen, and soft towels are provided. Each canvas tent features a shower en-suite bathroom, a bar fridge, coffee/tea, a fan, and access to BBQ/braai facilities. Guests have access to a shared kitchen in the communal area for self-catering needs. Baobab Tent Camp offers free Wi-Fi access, and an outdoor plunge pool with lovely views. The famous Baobab Restaurant is also located on the farm and is a few minutes walk from the camp. A cooked or continental breakfast is available at an additional cost and braai packs, ice cream, and soft drinks, can be purchased from the restaurant as well. A variety of fresh salads can be ordered in the morning and delivered to guests' tents for their braai. Baobab Tent Camp is situated 12.5 km from central Hoedspruit and an 86 km drive from the Phalaborwa Gates of the Kruger National Park. Guests can also plan day trips from the camp to visit the Panorama Route as well.

Do a guided tour of the non-profit Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre to see cheetah, African wild dog, and black-footed cat, or try a Platinum tour which includes African wild dog and vulture feeding. Other animal sanctuaries include the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, Daktari Wildlife Orphanage, and Khamai Reptile Centre.

Just a stone’s throw away from the Kruger National Park, Hoedspruit is one of the best bases for Big Five wildlife viewing. If you’re looking for something a little less commercial, visit Kapama Private Game Reserve. Kapama’s 13,000 hectares of savannah and riverine forest teem with all sorts of wildlife. In addition to the Big Five, there are over 40 mammal species and 350 different species of birds. Activities include game drives, bush walks, and elephant interactions and rides.
