Uniondale, a charming town in the Klein Karoo, is known for its quirky locals and laid-back lifestyle, located about an hour’s drive from George and 80 km from Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Set against the scenic Langkloof, winding through the foothills of the Tsitsikamma Mountains, Uniondale has transitioned from its historical roots in wagon building and ostrich feathers to a farming community focused on sheep, goats, seeds, and apples. Famous for a ghost story originating from a tragic 1968 car accident, the town prefers to highlight its many attractions, including an aloe factory, restored Anglo-Boer War forts, a historic watermill housing an art gallery and restaurant, and a unique Jewish Synagogue with murals.
