Frontier River Resort
Frontier River Resort is the ideal stopover for passersby, visitors exploring the Richtersveld, or families seeking a getaway. Nestled on a hillside with spectacular views of the Orange River and Namibia, the resort is conveniently located just 5 km from the Vioolsdrift border post on the N7. Situated almost halfway between Cape Town and Windhoek, Frontier River Resort is perfectly positioned for travelers and holidaymakers heading to or from Namibia. Our accommodation features freestanding, luxury safari-style tents. We offer double tents, which can accommodate two people, and family tents, suitable for up to four guests. Each tent includes an en-suite bathroom built with locally sourced stones, complete with a shower, toilet, and washbasin. All tents are air-conditioned and come with a bar fridge. Frontier River Resort can host up to 30 guests across 13 tented chalets. For self-catering travelers, we provide a communal tented boma kitchen equipped with a built-in braai, stove, basin, table, and benches. Most guests, however, choose to dine at the Farmhouse Kitchen, where delicious meals are freshly prepared. Dining is available for guests only, and bookings are essential. On-site, you can also purchase braai packs, wood, prepared salads, water, ice, and cold drinks. Relax with a cold beer on the deck, home to the highest bar in Vioolsdrift, offering stunning 180-degree views of the Namibian mountains and the Orange River. Guests can also cool off in our inviting swimming pool.
Area Info
Vioolsdrift is the official border post to Namibia and is situated on the Orange river in the North western part of the province known as Namaqualand. Vioolsdrift is the ideal stop-over for travellers en route to the Richtersveld and Namibia. The area surrounding Vioolsdrift is almost unpopulated.
