Hlophe's is +-70 km south of Durban at the Mtwalume/Hibberdene Area, KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, and is the ideal beach holiday destination for families. It is surrounded by an abundance of indigenous fauna and flora, and the Mtwalume River which forms a beautiful lagoon stretching into the sea. The water is warm and there are quaint tidal pools ideal for swimming. Mtwalume beach offers a huge variety of activities which include surf fishing, windsurfing, surfing, bodyboarding, rock pools, a tidal swimming pool and picnic areas. Further out, deep sea fishing, spear fishing and scuba diving are also popular. The village has its own shopping mall with shops consisting of a butchery, liquor store, post office, supermarkets and a hardware store, providing most of the basic necessities.
