iKhayalamafu Mountain Reserve

iKhayalamafu Mountain Reserve is situated high in the Monk’s Cowl Reserve of the Central Drakensberg Mountains, closer to paradise than anywhere else in the Champagne Valley. Step from your cabin into the World Heritage Site and walk beneath the majestic Cathkin Peak and Champagne Castle. Guests have a choice of 2 private and secluded cabins, each sleeping only 2 adults. Inyoka Cabin is set within an indigenous forest next to a babbling stream and Ingwe Cabin has a lovely view of the Little Berg. There is secure undercover parking next to both cabins. Regrettably, children and pets cannot be accommodated. Each cabin has a large open-plan bedroom with a king-size bed and a cosy fireplace. Firewood is supplied and harvested sustainably from the indigenous forests. The en-suite bathroom is luxurious with a shower and hot water is provided by gas geysers. All linen and towels as well as an electric blanket in winter, are provided. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, gas stove, microwave, cutlery and crockery, pots and pans and tea and coffee-making facilities. The cabins are not equipped with TVs and guests can stay connected with free Wi-Fi. Leading from the kitchen is a private, covered deck with a barbecue and outdoor furniture. An abundance of birds have become inured to our guests and they will befriend you as you sit on the deck. The cabins are fully serviced each morning. iKhayalamafu Mountain Reserve is gentle on the natural environment, and our guests can feel proud that their carbon footprint is close to zero during their stay. Electricity is sourced from both solar and hydro generation and guests do not have to worry about loadshedding. Water comes from our fresh mountain streams and sewage is handled in a sustainable way with septic tanks and soak pits. Enjoy the quiet and peace of the evenings far from civilization, with the sound of the stream flowing gently past your verandah. Bring your hiking boots and your binoculars and look out for the buck, eagles, vultures, and other wonderful wildlife on our property. Enjoy the sheer range of indigenous flowers and trees, gaze at the clear night sky with its dazzlingly bright stars or simply put your feet up and relax.
