Klein Karoo Game Lodge
Klein Karoo Game Lodge is located 15 km outside of Oudtshoorn along Route 62, right in the heart of the Klein Karoo. The lodge offers comfortable accommodation in four Chalets and eight Mountain View Suites. Chalet 1 features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. The main bedroom has a queen-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, basin, and toilet. The second and third bedrooms each contain a single bed, and share a bathroom with a shower, basin, and toilet. The kitchen includes a fridge-freezer, microwave, gas stove, kettle, crockery, and cutlery. The Chalet also offers a private braai area, gas geyser, and secure on-site parking. The unit runs on solar power. Chalets 2, 3, and 4 each consist of one bedroom with a double bed and an open-plan bathroom with a shower, basin, and toilet. There is a lounge area and a kitchenette, equipped with a fridge-freezer, microwave, gas stove, kettle, crockery, and cutlery. Each of these Chalets has a private braai area, gas geyser, and secure parking. They also utilize solar power. The Mountain View Suites comprise eight luxury rooms, each with a thatched roof. Each suite is furnished with a king-size bed (which can be converted into two single beds upon request) and a bathroom with a toilet, basin, and shower. Coffee and tea-making facilities are provided, and each room features a veranda. Braai facilities can be arranged. Guests can enjoy hiking, cycling, swimming or game viewing by foot or vehicle. The lodge also has an on-site restaurant and pool area, and free Wi-Fi access at the restaurant. The farm operates entirely off the grid, using solar energy and batteries, ensuring that there are no power outages. Game species that can be spotted on the farm include giraffe, kudu, eland, gemsbok, ostrich, and springbok. Nearby attractions include Meerkat Adventure Tours, Safari Ostrich Farms, the Kango Caves, and the Swartberg Pass. Activities in the area include game drives, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, hiking, golf, and wine-tasting at Klein Karoo’s local wineries. Klein Karoo Game Lodge is situated on the Route 62, 15 km outside the town of Oudtshoorn in the heart of the Klein Karoo. Oudtshoorn is the principal town of the Little Karoo, where you will be welcomed with hospitality that has become synonymous with the people of the Klein Karoo.
The Klein Karoo is an oasis-like setting in a fertile valley cupped by the Swartberg and Outeniqua mountain ranges and originated as a settlement along the Grobbelaars River, which meanders southwards from the Swartberg, providing fertile soil and water for irrigation. Crops such as lucerne, tobacco, fruit, grapes, and grains grow here in abundance.
One of South Africa's eight wine regions, the Klein Karoo is large in area but small in production, and these wines are classed with the best in the South African context.
