The standalone cottage is situated next to the citrus orchards in amongst a rocky outcrop. The cottage contains a king-size bed and a bathroom with bath, shower, vanity and toilet. All linen, towels, toiletries are provided. There is a fully equipped kitchen, and a small lounge area with a fireplace and flat-screen TV. Outside, the cottage has a covered patio with a built-in braai, outdoor dining furniture, a wood-fired hot tub with a coil heater, and a private plunge pool with glorious views. The guest room at Latjeskloof is in our home. It is self-contained with twin single beds, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and has a separate entrance. The apartment contains 2 double beds and 2 single beds, an en-suite bathroom with a shower, a dining table, lounge area with a flat-screen TV, and a kitchenette with a kettle, microwave, bar fridge, and toaster. Breakfast and dinner can be served on request, at an additional fee. A braai facility is available for all guests. It is covered by a 'gazebo' so is protected from the elements. A large eco pool is available that you can relax in and do a few lengths if you're so inclined. We are pet friendly; we have two dogs of our own who are well behaved but like to bark in greeting. They are quite happy with other dogs.

Area Info

Latjeskloof is a family-run boutique citrus farm owned by Alan and Hazel Hall. This small corner of the Citrusdal valley feels remote and offers tranquility, and the opportunity to relax and unwind away from the pace of daily life. In August and September come and view the glorious spring flowers of the Western Cape and Namaqualand. Our farm bursts with colour from the daisies, proteas, and all the other glorious indigenous flowers.

Guests may hike the mountain and walk around the farm through citrus orchards. There are Bushmen paintings that depict a good idea of how the San lived. We can give guided tours of the Bushmen paintings and orchards.

We have several species of bird here. Experienced bird watchers have counted over 200 different types over the years. Other wildlife include buck, dassies, porcupine and wild cat. Baboons frequently visit our orchards in season.

The Citrusdal valley is intersected by the Olifants river, the artery for the Citrus industry which is the main income generator of the area. Also grown in the area is rooibos tea, wine grapes, and deciduous fruit, including peaches, apricots and nectarines.
