Area Info

From our patio area, watch eagles, hawks, and various types of bok, and enjoy spectacular views of Cathkin Peak, Champagne Castle, Monks Cowl and Dragons Peak. From here is the best angle to view these mountains, and makes for an Instagramable moment, as the sun sets behind these beautiful peaks.

The Sterkspruit River meanders along the flood plain below the lodge, offering crystal pools for hikers to cool off during the hot summer months. This area is steeped in the history of the San and the Nguni people. Wildlife often spotted on the property include owls, hawks, eagles, klipspringer, rhebok, jackal, porcupine, otter, baboon, monkey, and bushpig. Most evenings, we hear the Jackals call from the foothills around the lodge.
