Muweti Bush Lodge
Muweti Bush Lodge and the surrounds are somewhat unique. They offer an opportunity for Africa's large game to live in harmony with man as the reserve is home to several families, including your hosts, who make this part of the world their home amongst the wilds. The positioning of the tented chalets gives a truly unusual sense of fusion with the bush, and an opportunity to sleep in close proximity to the wilds of Africa. Each chalet has a king-sized 4 poster bed, with full en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. Although the chalets are privately situated and close to the bush, they are accessed from the lodge and there is safe walking territory between the lodge and the chalets. In addition to the tented chalet accommodation there is a self-catering cottage that gives you an opportunity to do your own thing on a self-catering basis. The cottage has a main bedroom with a queen-sized 4 poster bed and en-suite shower, as well as a second bedroom with 2 single beds and en-suite shower. Relax on the pool side deck and wait for game to come and drink at the waterhole. Often unique elephant encounters are experienced in this way. Or relax at the pool gazing onto the Drakensberg Mountains in the distance with the bushveld right in front of you. After a light lunch, by arrangement, an excursion to local places of interest can be arranged. In the later part of the afternoon, enjoy a sundowner on the banks of the Olifants River, followed by an evening/night drive to see some of the nocturnal animals. This will pave the way for a return to the lodge. Sit under the magnificently clear skies dazzling with a spectacle of stars. Be comforted by a slowly burning campfire and enjoy a delicious truly South African meal. Your hosts Laura and Mike will attend to your every need without being intrusive. Our mission is to share with our guests our love and passion for Muweti and the bush. Whether you stay overnight, for a week or for a month, our personal commitment to you as the guest will be the same.
Area Info
Muweti Bush Lodge forms part of the Balule Nature Reserve, more than 40000ha of wild African Big 5 bushveld and part of the world renowned Greater Kruger National Park. With no fences between the Kruger Park proper and its neighbours, Muweti Bush Lodge is home to four of Africa's famous big 5. Rhino occasionally make their presence yet not enough to include them as the last of the big 5. Close encounters of the natural kind are regularly experienced with 2 of these magnificent species. To add some tension to the experience, lion, whilst elusive, are often evident by their night calling, their spoor and the remains of their kills. And sometimes you may be privileged enough to get an intimate sighting of the veritable King of the Beasts.
