Mvemve GrootPoort Lodge offers guest accommodation in 12 double occupancy rooms located on a private farm 35 km from Memel, FS. All rooms include breakfast; we recommend "Full Board" option of breakfast, lunch, tea time snacks and dinner during your stay. THERE ARE NO EATING ESTABLISHMENTS CLOSER THAN 35 km TO THE LODGE (no self-catering option). ** This is a rural working farm and unfortunately we discourage children under the age of 8 ** What makes our farm a wonderful place to visit and stay will also shape your experience here so please be aware: - Our beautiful working farm is in a remote location (we are 45 minutes from the small town of Memel in Free State, 75 minutes from Newcastle in KZN and 90 minutes from Harrismith in Free State. - We have no mobile signal and WiFi is not available for guests - A house telephone is available for safe arrival and departure calls - Home-style cooked meals are available. All rooms come with breakfast. Let us know if you have dietary requirements and we will try to accommodate. We cannot guarantee against cross-contamination of allergens. - The roads are un-tarred so travel by 4x4 or a sedan with high wheel clearance is recommended - Please message or call before arrival to receive any travel recommendations
Area Info
The farm is located in the northeastern Drakensberg on the border of Free State and KwaZulu-Natal near the town of Memel, FS. We are near Normandien Pass, The Ark escarpment and Ncandu Nature Reserve. There are walking and hiking trails on the 540 hectare farm and access to neighboring farms. Guests can hike bike, bird watch, stargaze or relax with a book.
The farm is accessible from N3, N11 and R34 and is approximately half way between Harrismith, FS and Newcastle, KZN.
