New Holme Nature Lodge
The Karoo Gariep Nature Reserve (8 000 ha), Khoisan Karoo Conservancy for the Karoo Hippo is between Colesberg and Hanover. We are 8 km off the N1 highway and perfectly situated between Cape Town and Johannesburg, also halfway between Upington (Kalahari) and PE (Garden Route). Our location makes us the perfect halfway-break in South Africa from most destinations. We pay special attention to nature and the outdoors. You can explore the central Karoo using us as a base, we have the "Sea Caw Vally Meander" whish connect New Bethesda to Hanover and Colesberg by dirt road. These roads can be enjoyed by car as well as on mountain-bike. New Holme offer a family friendly farm stay experience. Our activities include early morning birding drives, stargazing from our star deck, hippo sundowner drives, Koi etchings, mountain bike trails and more. There are three lodges on the conservancy to choose from. Mieliefontein managed by Elma Ferreira, New Holme with P.C. and Marisca Ferreira. Wolmado Self-catering farmhouse (managed by Elma) New Holme and Mieliefontein are 3-star graded farm stays. We offer excellent "Plaas kos" (Farm Food) 3-course dinners. The meals are an experience and most of our guests stay again and again just for the Karoo Cuisine. We suggest you consider a 2-to-3-night stay to make the most out of your Karoo experience and hospitality.
