Onrus Cottage
Welcome to Onrus Cottage – a spacious, beautifully decorated and well-equipped free standing house in Onrusrivier. Our self-catering house has a stylish living and kitchen area, with three large bedrooms, an enclosed barbeque and dining area, and doors that open out onto the front and back garden. We offer the fastest fibre uncapped WiFi and a smart TV with Netflix and YouTube. There is a fireplace in the lounge and a barbeque area in the enclosed patio. There is also a fire pit in the garden with unlimited firewood for those cosy evenings under the stars. The property is safe with a high wall, burglar alarm, off-street parking and a convenient electric gate. We are situated on a crescent in Onrusrivier, a village only fifteen minutes drive from popular Hermanus and less than 2 hours from Cape Town.
Area Info
Onrus is an ideal holiday spot and the ocean is refreshing in the hot summer months. Nearby Onrus lagoon is warmer and is ideal for children to swim in. The lagoon and beach offer showers, cloakrooms and a restaurant right on the beach making this a friendly spot for holidaymakers. The beach is long and sandy, and perfect for picnics, suntanning and games. It is also a favourite surfing and body boarding spot. There are also many child friendly tidal pools on this beautiful stretch of coastline. The cliff path is a long and a relaxing walk or run all the way to nearby Vermont Nature Reserve which boasts one of the most undisturbed beaches in the area.
Davies' Pool and John Rabie Pool – two well-known tidal pools – are just a short walk from the cottage, as well as some beautiful cliffside walks at the seaside.
Between September and January, the whales make their way past this coastline. The entire area is surrounded by impressive mountains as well as hundreds of species of the spectacular fynbos that is endemic to this country. This means that the views are almost always breath-taking and are only a short drive or walk away. If you that have a passion for the outdoors, there are a number of walking, hiking, horse riding and cycling trails within close proximity to Onrus Cottage.
