Pecan Grove Guesthouse

Area Info
Frankfort is a small town situated in the Northern Free State region of the Free State Province. It was established on the banks of the Wilge River on a farm named Roodepoort in 1869 and is therefore home to a thriving fishing community. Frankfort has a total population of approximately 2000, and the majority of its inhabitants speak Afrikaans. The wide streets are enhanced with sandstone buildings to accommodate a full load and oxen to be able to do an ox-wagon turn. The post office, police station, and magistrates office were declared national monuments by the Council for National Memorabilia. Cosmos flowers are abundant during late summer and create a special atmosphere of peace and tranquillity.
Enjoy a short hiking trail along the Wilge River in beautiful surroundings. You might be fortunate to see a duiker quenching its thirst or an otter frolicking in the water. Fly fishing (catch and release) in the river where yellow fish abound gives much pleasure to those who enjoy the sport.
