Rietfontein Lodge & Safaris is a charming off-the-grid establishment situated along the valley of the spectacular Bamboes Mountain Range where the Vlekpoort River runs, 26km from Hofmeyr in the Eastern Cape. The landscape boasts abundant birdlife, scenery, and wildlife for those looking to get away for a weekend of relaxation or family get togethers. The lodge is a double story establishment overlooking the Bamboes Mountain Range. The main floor showcases an open plan living space with three ensuite bedrooms. The decor has been thoughtfully arranged to create a cozy yet spacious and comfortable environment. The open-plan family area comprises a fully kitted kitchen (as well as an industrial fridge and ice machine) which extends into the dining area as well as the bar and lounge area. It's the perfect space to relax, unwind or socialise. The lodge features an indoor built-in braai as well as a fireplace. At the front of the lodge is a patio that extends the width of the lodge and is fitted with furniture to relax and take in the views! The boma, with a fire pit and seating, is also situated adjacent to the lodge for those who enjoy relaxing around a fire. The three en-suite bedrooms downstairs can accommodate six adults and are each furnished with two twin beds that can be made into a king-size bed configuration. The beds are fitted with 100% cotton linen, luxurious microfibre duvet inners, and electric blankets for the cold winter months. Upstairs, what we like to call the loft, boasts open spaces showcasing wooden finishes and elegant architectural lines. The loft can accommodate an additional fourteen guests and all beds are fitted with 100% cotton linen. The loft has two bathrooms equipped with showers. It also opens up onto the balcony where one can sit and relax while enjoying that early morning cup of coffee or a sundowner at sunset. Upstairs you will find a coffee station as well for convenience. We offer catering that needs to be requested in advance: Rietfontein Snack Pack -All items individually packed into a branded paper bag for 1 person. Includes: Bottled spring water, Homemade dry sausage, 1 seasonal fruit, 1 packet of chips and savoury crackers, chocolate as well as a Portuguese roll filled with cold meat, cheese, and fresh produce from the farm. Family Braai in the veld: Experience a meal in the veld sitting around the fire, enjoying the views and sound of absolute peace and quiet. Enjoy a selection of meats all produced on the farm ranging from lamb chops to home made wors and venison fillet that melts in your mouth! Includes: 3 selections of meat, 2 cold side dishes as well as a home-baked bread. Beverages are not included. The lodge has a capacity for 20 guests. It is the perfect setup for families wanting to get together at a central destination. The lodge does not accommodate multiple individual bookings at once unless it is a large group booking the lodge together. The lodge has unlimited Wi-Fi, Dstv, and Netflix and is completely solar-powered to avoid the inconvenience of load shedding. Wood and ice is also available on request. Rietfontein is fortunate enough to be completely solar-powered and have a backup generator. Being solar-powered allows us to run the farming enterprise without interruptions and maintain productivity. It is also a huge advantage to be able to offer a comfortable farm stay for guests where one does not have to worry about the load-shedding schedule at all.

Rietfontein Lodge & Safaris is a charming off-the-grid establishment situated along the valley of the spectacular Bamboes Mountain Range where the Vlekpoort River runs, 26km from Hofmeyr in the Eastern Cape.

Rietfontein Lodge and Safaris is situated on a farm comprising of 6500ha of lush Karoo veld.

The area is completely Malaria and Bilharzia free. The conservancy is comprised of four individual farms whereby the biodiversity of the veld ranges from lush sweet grasses and acacia trees to semi sour grass veld. Over twenty species of antelope roam the veld ranging from the elusive klipspringer to springbuck, sable and giraffe who stand tall amongst the trees. Rietfontein is ideally situated as a central point between Gauteng and the Western Cape and is easily accessible by maintained gravel road via the R391 or by air. We have a privately maintained 800 metre runway as well as a hanger that sits no more than 100 metres from the lodge.
