Area Info

Fouriesburg was founded in 1892 on the farm Groenfontein, which belonged to Christoffel Fourie. During the Anglo-Boer War, it was declared the capital of the Orange Free State Republic, a proclamation which has yet to be rescinded!
We are located near Clarens, which offers charming amenities, including restaurants, shops and an 18-hole golf course.
A picturesque destination with a perfect balance between relaxation and excitement. Fouriesburg is the gateway to the Mountain Kingdom of Lesotho. Enjoy an unforgettable skiing experience at the Afriski Mountain Resort and visit the Katse Dam to marvel at the 185-meter-high dam wall. The second highest in Africa.
