Savannah Game Lodge, Wedding Venue & River Resort
Welcome to Savannah Game and River Retreat Wedding and Conference venue. We are situated in the Free State just outside Parys – nestled in the Vredefort Dome World Heritage Site. Our property borders 8 km of the Vaal River, and we are home to 25 mammal species which include buffalo, giraffe, sable, zebra, and kudu, to name but a few. Accommodation comprises Lodge Rooms, Tented Chalets, a romantic Bush Room for honeymooners, and Rondavel accommodation. Each option features a private en-suite bathroom and contains amenities such as tea/coffee facilities, and a sitting area; some options contain a wall heater and electric blankets in winter. A hearty breakfast is available on request, and a menu is available for lunch and dinner. The lodge boasts a giant chess board, a swimming pool and a splash pool, a pool table and a dartboard. Braai areas (service fee would apply) can be arranged for guests, and guests are more than welcome to bring their own braai meat, charcoal, fire lighter and salads. We will keep your food cold in our fridges. Cutlery and Crockery will be provided.
Area Info
The little country town of Parys lies on the southern banks of the Vaal River about an hour’s drive from Johannesburg.
Disputably named after its European counterpart on the banks of the Seine, what makes Parys interesting to visit is that it is situated within the Vredefort Dome Area - the place of the oldest and largest meteorite impact site in the world.

Each Lodge Room features a king-size bed or twin beds, and an en-suite with either a large oval bath and shower or a shower only. Each room contains a coffee/tea station, a wall heater, and electric blankets in winter.

The Savannah section offers 2 Luxury Tented Chalets. Each Luxury Tented Chalet contains a king-size bed or twin beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. An additional bed can be added for children or a 3rd guest.
Tented Chalet

The Savannah section has 3 Tented Chalets. Each Tented Chalet has an en-suite bathroom with a shower, and contains a king-size bed or twin beds. An additional bed can be added for children or a 3rd guest.
Bush Room

The romantic Bush Room is tucked away in the trees, privately, away from the lodge and tents. The room has a king-size bed, & an open-plan bath with a separate toilet. The room has a heater, fan, hot blanket, towels, amenities, Tea and Coffee station.
Hoopoe Rondavel

The Rondavel is furnished with a king-size bed that can be converted into twin beds, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The rondavel contains tea/coffee facilities, a sitting area, and a hanging space for clothing storage.
The Nyala Family Room

This family room contains a king-size bed or twin beds and a bunker bed. The en-suite bathroom has a shower. This unit is equipped with a coffee/tea station, a wall heater, and electric blankets in winter, and all bedding.
Buffalo Lodge Room

Has a private outside entrance. The room has aa King Size Bed that an be made into two Single beds. En-suite bathroom, with separate toilet, Shower and Basin.
Giraffe Lodge Room

Has a private outside entrance and double doors that open onto a private garden. The room has a King Size Bed that can be made into two Single Beds. En-suite bathroom, with toilet, shower and basin.
Eland Room

Has a private outside entrance that opens onto the grass area. The room has a Queen Size Bed. Open plan bathroom, with toilet, shower and basin.
Rhino Room

Has a Private entrance at the back of the lodge. The room has a King Size Bed that can be made into two Single Beds. The En-suite bathroom has a large oval bath, shower and toilet. The room has double doors that open onto a private patio.
The Lion Room
