Shik Shack Backpackers is an eco-conscious, sustainable retreat designed for travelers who care about their impact. Built with eco materials and focus on minimal environmental footprint. Nestled in the heart of the vibrant Tsonga community, Shik Shack Backpackers is more than just a place to stay – it’s an experience in responsible tourism. As a social enterprise, we also proudly support the Nourish Foundation and the local community by employing 11 staff members from the area and giving back through impactful initiatives.

The Shik Shack Backpackers is nestled in a peaceful area between rural community and private reserve.
Guests can explore the stunning landscapes, including the nearby Kruger National Park and Blyde River Canyon (3rd largest canyon in the world!) .
This area offers rich cultural experiences with the chance to discover the Shangaan culture through village walking tours, as well as immersive sustainability programs through the Nourish Eco Village. It's an ideal spot for those seeking a blend of nature, adventure, and meaningful community engagement.

Our 3 safari tents feature two beds (Twin or Double) made from recycled pallets with confortable bedding, fresh towels, fan and storage. A shaded veranda to relax. Shared bathroom and kitchen facilities are available for your convenience.

Our 2 Teepees, are made from mud bricks and a repurposed old windy house. Include 2 single beds (twin or double), confortable bedding, fresh towels, mosquito nets, fans and storage. Shared bathroom and kitchen facilities are available for your convenience
