Slot Loevenstein Guest House
Slot Loevenstein is a luxury guesthouse set in Bloemfontein, South Africa’s beautiful ‘city of roses’, in the Free State. It draws inspiration from its African surroundings which reflect a rich European influence, as well as from the alluring castles and chateaus of Europe, specifically its namesake, Slot Loevestein in The Netherlands. Each of our rooms is individually appointed and luxuriously finished according to a rose floral theme, complementing Slot Loevenstein’s stunning setting in the ‘city of roses.’ The Dutch Slot Loevestein is a medieval castle that was built in 1368 by the knight, Dirc Loef van Horne. Its many incarnations included a state prison, from where the renowned lawyer Hugo Grotius famously escaped. This medieval influence seamlessly integrates with classic French styles at Slot Loevenstein Guesthouse. The result is an eclectic mix of elegant interiors, where chateau charm is perfectly balanced against timeless classical décor, complete with antique pieces.
