Southern Cross Guesthouse
All the rooms are with private facilities en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning hot/cold, fridges, most of them with private terraces or balconies, TV, King size beds. Most of them offer stunning garden - or sea view We offer 4 self-catering fully equipped suites - 2 of them luxury suites - and 4 double rooms. The suites have a little kitchen equipped with a stove, fridge, kettle, crockery and cutlery. Every room is unique, furnished individually and decorated from African to modern luxury style. The Rhino room, Africa Suite, Buffalo Suite and Zebra suite are with sea view. Springbok and Zebra Suite offer each a private terrace facing the beautiful garden. At Southern Cross Guesthouse we are very proud of our lush park-like garden with a huge koi pond, colourful rose garden, healthy fruit trees and beautiful old oak tree. Stroll through the garden or relax with a book at the poolside lounge, you might even want to take a refreshing swim in our spring water pool. Where ever you are, be it in your room or in the garden, you are always relaxed and refreshed. Enjoy an African sunset from the sundeck with breathtaking views of False Bay.
Area Info
Somerset West, Gordons Bay and Strand make up the Helderberg Basin. There is a combination of action-packed Mountains, blue Ocean and white sandy beaches, making it one of the most sought-after holiday destinations in the world. The slopes of the mountains are covered with vineyards or botanical gardens. Whilst the Helderberg is a world of its own, it is still only 30 minutes drive from the centre of Cape Town, 20 minutes from the Cape Town International Airport and 15 minutes from the beautiful town of Stellenbosch.
Over the Hottentot Holland mountain range that curtains the Helderberg basin is the world-famous garden route and the town of Hermanus, famous for its Whale watching is only 40 minute drive from the Helderberg basin, this does not mean to say that we do not have the Whales gracing our shores, and they can sometimes be seen frolicking in the waves not 5 meters from the coast.
There are many nature reserves in the area. The most noteworthy is the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, the first proclaimed international biosphere in South Africa, only a half-hour drive away, is in the heart of the Fynbos Kingdom with its 1600 fynbos species of which 150 are endemic!
