Spekboom

Spekboom is a quaint semi-detached Karoo-style self-catering cottage located in the town of Graaff-Reinet, in the heart of the Great Karoo, and surrounded by the Camdeboo National Park in the Eastern Cape. The cottage is ideal for a family of four and contains two bedrooms, one bathroom and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The first bedroom contains a double bed, and the second bedroom contains 2 single beds. The bathroom contains a shower, a toilet and a washbasin. The kitchen is well-equipped for self-catering and is fitted with a stove and oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, and kettle. The lounge area has comfy seating and a flat-screen TV with DStv. At the back of the cottage is a sheltered area with outdoor furniture and a built-in braai. At the front of the home is a patio where you can relax and enjoy your morning coffee.

Graaff- Reinet which is known as the ‘gem of the Karoo’ is the fourth oldest town in South Africa, and boasts many magnificent examples of Cape Dutch architecture and over 220 heritage sites. The town holds 4 extraordinary museums.

It is worthwhile to take a drive to the spectacular Valley of Desolation and to the Karoo Nature Reserve a few minutes northwest of the town. The 14.000 hectare reserve is well stocked with game. Mountain zebra, wildebeest, springbok and gemsbok can be spotted in this 14,000-hectare reserve, as well as many other mammal and bird species.
