Area Info

Queenstown, officially known as Komani, is a town situated in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. Established in 1853 by Sir George Cathcart, it was originally named in honour of Queen Victoria. The town is strategically located approximately halfway between Cathcart and Sterkstroom on the N6 national route.

Komani is renowned for its distinctive hexagonal layout, a design implemented by its founder as a defensive measure during times of conflict. The town is often referred to as the "Rose Capital of South Africa" due to the abundance of lush rose gardens that adorn the area.

The surrounding region offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, and exploring the scenic landscapes. Notably, the nearby Wild Coast and Karoo regions are within accessible distance, providing additional opportunities for adventure and exploration.
