The Falls Cottages
Nestled within the rolling hills of the picturesque Balgowan valley, lies a wonderful opportunity to rebel against the monotony of the nine-to-five. Resplendent in tranquillity, a renowned local farm, The Falls, sets the scene for a well-deserved reflection on the simple pleasures of life. Luxury meets country at The Falls Cottages in the beautiful Balgowan Valley. The Falls Cottages are set on a beautiful 22-hectare farm in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, 10 km from Nottingham Road and 800 m from Michaelhouse. We offer two self catering cottages, Serendipity Cottage and the Falls Cottage. Serendipity Cottage has one main ensuite bedroom, with a queen sized bed, a cosy fire place and a bath. Serendipity is also fully self-catering, with a two plate gas HOB, fridge and microwave. Serendipity Cottage is fenced in and is pet friendly. Our second Cottage, The Falls Cottage, is a two bedroom one bathroom self-catering cottage. The main room has a queen bed and the second room two single beds. The Falls Cottage has a cosy lounge with a fire place and a fully equipped self-catering kitchen.

The Falls encompasses 22 hectares of open fields frequented by small buck, porcupines, and an abundance of bird life, all going about their day amongst the manicured gardens, hospitable waterfall, and river frontage that streams through a small dappled forest.
The Natal Midlands, nestled between Pietermaritzburg and the Drakensberg Mountains, is a picturesque region of rolling hills, lush farmlands, and charming villages. Known for its stunning natural beauty, the area offers an arts-and-crafts route, making it a delightful place to retreat. The Midlands stretch to the foothills of the Drakensberg, a 243,000-hectare mountain range ideal for hiking, rock climbing, and abseiling. The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site, is home to rare plants, diverse wildlife, and ancient San rock paintings.
