The Gaia Sanctuary

The Gaia Sanctuary is an off-grid organic, working farm for nature lovers and eco-warriors, set along the banks of the Breede River, with breathtaking views of the Langeberg Mountain Range. Guests can book a lovely A-frame Cabin, a Bell Tent or one of the campsites, all of which share communal ablution facilities with showers and flushing toilets The A-frame Cabin is furnished with a queen-size bed in the loft, 2 single sofa beds, and has a private compost toilet. Bath towels for 4 are also provided. The kitchenette is equipped with a gas cooker and tea and coffee-making facilities. The cabin opens onto a deck with deck chairs and a hammock We have 1 Bell tent, it is a twin/double, however, the twin beds can be pushed together to make a double. Tea and coffee-making facilities and a fully equipped, communal kitchen is available for guests to use at the glamping deck Overlooking the river, the campsite makes use of shared ablution facilities with showers and toilets, and guests have use of the communal braai facilities, fire pit and kitchen located at the glamping deck. Guests, please need to bring their own camping equipment including tents, lights and batteries The lovely, communal glamping deck overlooks the river and is equipped with a 3-plate gas cooker, sink, large dining table and bar stools. Two braai areas and a fire pit are available, perfect for group gatherings There is a lovely large kid's jungle gym near the fire pit area for kids to play on whilst parents braai. This area is also available to hire for birthday parties The river is perfect for swimming and fishing and canoes are available for hire. The Gaia Sanctuary is ideal for bird watching, star gazing and long walks. Holiday clubs and a childminding service are also available

Swellendam is one of the biggest agricultural producing areas in South Africa, generating huge amounts of grain, Canola oil, meat & dairy as well as exporting Citrus, berries, Persimmons, wool and wine all over the world

Fully Furnished with 2 single beds, side tables, gas heater & deck chairs outside. The tent share the use of communal ablutions with shower. Guests have use of a fully equipped kitchen at the shared glamping deck, braai facilities, firepit & river access

Gaia Family Campsite

Overlooking the river, the sites share ablution facilities with showers and toilets. Guests have use of the communal braai facilities, fire pit and kitchen located at the glamping deck. Guests, please need to bring their own camping equipment

Wooden deck campsite

Premium campsite, as this is a 6m x 5m wooden deck right on the river embankment & closer to the glampdeck & ablutions than the campsite. Please bring along your own tent and all your own camping gear, nothing is provided.

Gaia River Cabin

This open plan fully furnished 4 sleeper cabin is perfect for families, with a 1 x double bed and 1 bunk bed, and a lovely wooden deck with views of the river. The cabin has a small kitchenette with a gas cooker, crockery & cutlery.
