Vadersgawe Farm Camp

Situated in the heart of a 180 hectares deciduous fruit export and equine livery farm, we are excited to offer the opportunity to experience our completely private, luxurious waterfront campsite, with breathtaking, unrestricted views of the surrounding Witzenberg mountains, to the discerning guest who values privacy, nature and exclusive access to one of the largest private lakes (750 000 cubic metres at capacity) in the Cape. As the owners are both lifelong waterskiing and competitive bass angling enthusiasts, the lake features an operational slalom course, as well as the space for free skiing and other watersports, whilst the angling enthusiasts can fish small and large-mouth bass to their heart's content( strictly catch-and-release). The lapa itself is situated right on the water's edge, and features a walk-on jetty, a kitchen that contains a 2-plate gas hob for making breakfast or coffee, plus 2 fridge-freezers, cutlery, crockery for 12, and basic pots/pans/braai grids/utensils. There is an area with seating. Indoor and outdoor braai facilities, wifi, and solar electricity for lights and charging of devices. Just behind the lapa on three large terraces of lawn there is ample space for tents, caravans and camping trailers. Full ablution facility with 2 good pressure hot showers, flush toilets and wash-up basin, and a spectacular birds-eye view of the lake and surrounding mountains. For those wanting to experience a more leisurely waterfront activity, the campsite has a 2.4metre woodburning hot tub with exceptional views over the whole lake, adjacent to the main lapa but elevated and very much private. Other entertainment includes - Exclusive use of the farm tracks for walking and running; - Sole access to an 8 km easy MTB track on the farm, also suitable for kids and partly in sight from the campsite, or for the more serious cyclist, it’s a ten minute bike ride from us to join up with the legendary Eselfontein singletracks (day permits available). - The lake has also been a favourite of avid birdwatchers for years, as it hosts over 200 local species, including Pied and Madacite kingfishers, red knobbed Coot, and most special to us, a breeding pair of fish eagles, regularly seen and heard, whilst in summer, you might get lucky and spot the massive flock of flamingos that spend a few weeks with us every year.

Area Info

Should you be priviledged to have enough time to also venture off the farm, a good spot to start is our neighbours, Loxtonia Brewery, well-known for their internationally award-winning ciders.

Access to local town, Ceres, is within a fifteen-minute drive from the campsite for any shopping requirements you may have (including excellent coffee at Tremor coffee bar and freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juices and healthy options at Homegrown).
