Windsor Hotel Hermanus
The three-star Windsor Hotel offers 70 comfortable en-suite bedrooms (most of which are sea facing) in one of the Cape's most glorious settings. On the very edge of sparkling Walker Bay, the Windsor Hotel combines the best of traditional hospitality with all the comforts you expect of stylish waterfront living - right in the village of Hermanus. Hermanus is long admired for its invigorating "champagne air" and breathtaking scenery that unfolds along miles of cliff and mountain paths. It remains essentially unspoiled in spite of all the sophisticated amenities it now has to offer; there is so much to experience that you will want to stay forever. Hermanus is considered to offer the best land based whale watching in the world, and you are able to do so from your own seafront bedroom or one of our lounges (July to November), or just relax in style that is simply seafront. Conveniences available in the bedrooms include tea and coffee making facilities, a colour television, a direct-dial telephone and double or twin beds. Standard in all the en-suite bathrooms is a bath with overhead shower. The Windsor Hotel has three conference rooms, with the largest conference room (Whale Room) accommodating a maximum of 120 delegates in cinema style. The two smaller conference rooms (Dolphin and Fynbos) accommodate any number of delegates, however small the group, up to a maximum of 50 persons, cinema style. The Windsor Hotel is only 70 minutes from Cape Town and transport can be arranged. Hermanus is the ideal base from which to venture forth on a variety of never-to-be-forgotten experiences. It is also close to the Overberg countryside with its popular activities, the beautiful Garden Route, and the most southern point of Africa, L'Agulhas.
Area Info
Hermanus, since its inception as a fishing village, always had its adherents because of its particularly attractive positioning between mountains and sea and its renowned champagne air. In the last ten years it has burgeoned into a lively tourist destination, thanks in part to the growing southern right whale population that visits regularly every year.
Dramatic seaside cliffs and mountains form a backdrop for the town and these are blanketed by spectacular fynbos which lure a wide variety of birds, mammals and insects.
